The Stamp Act was developed in 1765.The Stamp Act was a time where Britain needed to pay it's dept after the French and Indian War. They also needed to pay the soldiers who were staying in America with the colonists. British Leaders wanted the colonists to pay for the troops protecting them. So, the Parliament passed a new tax law stating that the colonists would be taxed on all printed papers. To show the tax was payed they put a big, blue stamp on almost all of the printed paper. Newspapers, marriage license, and playing cards were all taxed. This made the colonists furious. They got mad because they were getting taxed on everyday items. They got even more mad when they figured out the money was going towards the British Government.Colonists showed anger in multiple ways. Some scared off tax collectors, while others just refused to buy stamps. In March 1766, Parliament repealed the law. They did because the Parliament realized they could not force the colonists to do it their way. This was the 5th act that led to the Revolutionary War.
